I am Having Carrier do an investigation on my upstairs A/c unit. I have had horrible eletric bills and the upstairs a/c never turns off,a nd wont cool past 78 in weather over 90. Teo A/C companies have told me that my unit is too small. SO I want to pay for an independant company to do a load calculation to see if the tonage Vs sq foot is correct..
Please let me know if any one n my area does this .(pflugerville).suburb of Austin, TX |

Hello sel07,
It could be numerious of problems but yes the proper heat load calculation is the first place to start in your investigation. A proper Manual J will identify a large percentage of problems. Other problems could easily be the duct work, no return air upstairs, and not properly sized equipment.
